CUPE 1004 Small Units – Meet & Greet & Eat

Join us on Tuesday, January 24 at 6:00pm for an evening for the members of the smaller units of CUPE 1004 to say hello and meet some new faces, to join the discussion about our potential in this local, and to enjoy some food and drink. The local has over 3,500 members and is comprised of a variety of workers coming from different workplaces like the City of Vancouver & Parks Board, EasyPark, the Portland Hotel Society workers, the P.N.E., and even the smaller work groups like the BCIT FSA and CoDev & Cafe Etico. It can be hard to see how the smaller bargaining units fit in and connect with the rest of the members of CUPE 1004. With the majority of workers coming from the City of Vancouver engineering department, the smaller unit workplaces are all unique and the number of employees ranges anywhere from 1 to 20 members. The small units of this local represent 14 different bargaining units. How do we, as members of these smaller bargaining units connect and get the most out of our membership with this local?

This evening event will be lead by the local’s unit chair for the small units, Sarah Carrier, along with the local’s president, Andrew Ledger. We are looking to start a dialogue and brainstorm ideas together. After the evening, we hope you will have made some new contacts and will be inspired to get the most out of this local.

Please let us know if you will be able to attend. If you are not able to attend, we ask you to still email us and share your thoughts. Contact Sarah Carrier to RSVP.
