Thank you to everyone who joined us at the City of Vancouver Family Day event on May 24 at Manitoba Yards!
We had a great time connecting with attendees, sharing information about the work we do, and reading through all of your guesses for our raffle game.
Raffle Question:
How many CUPE 1004 dues-paying members work for the City of Vancouver as of May 15, 2025?
We received a wide range of guesses – from as low as 67 to as high as 700,000! The closest guess came within just 18 of the actual number: 1,551 dues-paying members.
These members perform a wide variety of vital jobs across the City of Vancouver Engineering Department and the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation.
But CUPE 1004 isn’t made up of only City employees!
As of April 30, 2025, we also proudly represent dues-paying members at:
- PNE and Playland – 824 members
- Science World – 160 members
- Small Units – 98 members, including:
- Easy Park
- BC Indigenous Housing Society
- Bowen Island Municipality
- Co-Development Canada and Café Etico
- Capilano Students’ Union
- SUCCESS
- BCIT Faculty Association
- Camosun College Faculty Association
- College of New Caledonia Faculty Association
- Douglas College Faculty Association
- Federation of Post-Secondary Educators of BC
- Kwantlen Faculty Association
- Langara Faculty Association
- Vancouver Island University Faculty Association

It was a pleasure to connect with so many community members, answer your questions, and share more about the important work our members do every day. We look forward to seeing you at future events!
